BJL Coaching Training Plans
BJL Coaching's training plans are designed for cyclists looking to get a fitness boost during the cycling season. The workouts are effective and efficient to get you prepared to meet the demands of your rides or events, while ensuring that you stay fresh and ready to have fun!
The plans use the TrainingPeaks Workout Builder, which makes the workouts very easy to follow on your head unit or online training platform. Workouts can be automatically downloaded to all of the popular devices such as Garmin, Wahoo, and Lyzene, as well as online platforms such as TrainingPeaks Virutal, Zwift, Rouvy, etc.
You will have the choice of a plan built for training with power (and heart rate can be used as well) or heart rate. You can successfully execute the plan using rating of perceived exertion (RPE). A zone guide is included with the plan to help you train at the appropriate intensity levels.
Also included with the plan is a Threshold Setting Guideline and Workout Instructions to help you get the most out of your training.
Each week ranges between 6 and 8 hours of riding, with opportunities to extend for athletes with a larger base and more time. The week days are kept at 90 minutes or below, with two days off the bike each week. Weekends have one longer day and one shorter day which can be extended. Days can be moved to fit an individual’s schedule, and group rides can be substituted in for endurance or intensity days, depending on which is appropriate. Before starting the plan, athletes should have a solid level of fitness and be accustomed to riding for at least 5-7 hours per week.
The plans are designed and delivered by Coach Brian Lariviere of BJL Coaching. Brian has been coaching athletes of all ability and fitness levels since 2005. His athletes have been very successful and realized improvements while riding and with many podium finishers for all different types of events including mountain bike races, gravel races, Gran Fondos, Regional Events and Series, State Competitions, Stage Races, National Events, and more. Additionally, Coach Brian has been racing since 1993 and brings decades of experience from countless road, mountain bike, and cyclocross events.
